DOUBLE THICK,, EXTRA LARGE TRIVET/POTHOLDER

3 skeins kitchen cotton - one variegated and two solid to coordinate with variegated
Size H crochet hook
 
(MAKE 2)
ROW 1:  Using solid kitchen cotton and size H hook, chain 63.  SC in second chain from hook and each chain across.  Chain 1, turn.  62 SC made.
 
ROWS 2-? :  SC in each stitch across until trivet/potholder reaches the desired size.  Fasten off.
 
Holding two pieces together and crocheting through both thicknesses, with variegated yarn SC in each stitch all the way around four sides, with three stitches in each corner.  At end of fourth side, join to beginning stitch.  Go around a second time.  When you reach the beginning the second time, chain 15, then join with slip stitch to form hanging ring.  Fasten off.
