Dish cloth

QUICK AND EASY DISHCLOTH

Quick and Easy dish cloth - This is my original pattern

Small amount of worsted weight kitchen cotton
Size G or H crochet hook
 
Chain 33.
Row 1:  Single crochet in second chain from hook and each stitch across.  32 SC made.
Row 2:  Chain 4 - counts as first double crochet and chain 1 space.  Skip 1 SC, double crochet in next SC, chain 1, skip 1 SC,double crochet in next SC across.  Chain 4, turn.
Row 3:  Double crochet chain 1 space, chain 1, skip double crochet, double crochet in next chain 1 space across.  Chain 4, turn.
Repeat row 3 until desired length. 
FINISH:  For last row, work 1 SC in each double crochet and each chain 1 space across. 
 
Can be left as is, or if you wish can SC around on all 4 sides with 3 SC in each corner space.  Join with slip stitch and fasten off. 
 
THICK AND QUICK DISH CLOTH
 
Small amount of worsted weight kitchen cotton
Size G or H hook
 
Chain 35.
Row 1:  Single crochet in second chain from hook and each chain across.  Chain 2, turn.
Row 2:  Half double crochet in each stitch across.  Chain 3, turn.
Row 3:  Double crochet in each stitch across.  Chain 4, turn.
Row 4:  Treble crochet in each stitch across.  Chain 1, turn.
Row 5: Single crochet in each stitch across.  Chain 2, turn.
Repeat rows consecutively until desired length, ending with single crochet row.  For edging, SC in corner stitch, chain 3, skip 1 single crochet, around all four sides.  Join with slip stitch and fasten off.
 
I have also used this same pattern to make a pillow, and get quite a few compliments on it.  Just chain until it is wide enough to cover your pillow, and continue this pattern until it is the length to fit your pillow.  I would use an H or I hook if making a pillow.
