GIFTS IN A JAR RECIPES

These gifts in a jar have become very popular in the last couple of years.  They're great gifts  if you have a tea lover, a hot drink lover, someone who doesn't particularly like to cook but loves a good homemade soup, or someone with a sweet tooth on your list.  You can pretty up the jars/containers, add a nice recipe card and a pretty ribbon, tie on a few cookie cutters for cookie recipes, give a nice large size mug or some soup bowls to go with your jar gift, maybe a set of measuring cups and spoons or wooden mixing spoons or some spatulas (you can't have too many of those)  - the possibilities are endless!  Just use your imagination.

ALMOND RICE SEASONING MIX

1 cup slivered almonds, toasted
2 tbsp dried parsley
4 1/2 tsp dillweed
1 tbsp dried minced onion
 1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp celery seed

1/2 tsp pepper

In a large bowl, combine all ingredients.  Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to three months.

RECIPE TO GO ALONG WITH JAR GIFT:

3 tbsp almond rice seasoning mix
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup long grain rice
1 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp grated lemon peel
